Wife: Cary Fuller
Shane was born and raised in the flatlands and cornfields of Indiana (except for a small excursion as a rancher in Cody, Wyoming). After finishing studies in Pastoral Ministries, he served on the staff of College Park Church, working primarily with High School, College and Singles ministries. He and his wife Cary enjoy traveling, reading, the sacred art of movie observance (watching movies), and all things relating to superheroes, as well as raising their own two young heroes-in-the-making—Spencer and Chase. Shane finds himself personally fascinated with Celtic history, New Monasticism (or anything with the word “monk”), Eastern Orthodoxy, Trinitarian theology, Batman, the Early Church, Cultural studies and Postmodernism, and Zombie apocalypse. Shane started the Dwelling Place to be a “healing space” for all those recovering from religion, and to provide an atmosphere of encounter and discovery as we learn who we are in light of Jesus’ merger of humanity and divinity.
Wife: Debbie Garrison
Bruce Garrison grew up in Indianapolis. After completing a degree in Biblical Studies and Philosophy, Bruce moved to England where he spent the next twenty-one years as director of an organization that published classic Christian writings in many parts of the world. He has also filled a number of roles in both large and small church settings, as well as working as a freelance writer and editor. Bruce and his wife Debbie enjoy hiking, reading, the arts, and spending time with Bruce’s two teenage children. Bruce believes that the Dwelling Place’s ancient-future approach helps people to understand the timeless aspects of Christianity. He also believes that the Trinitarian teaching helps people to grasp the part that they play in God’s eternal plan.
Ken grew up in suburban Chicago, and his love for God’s creation came from the forest preserves and sloughs of Palos. As a senior scientist for Dow AgroSciences, Ken advances stewardship of the earth through environmental research on farm chemicals. He enjoys worship music and songwriting, biographies, and travel, and finds great joy in serving study groups and project teams. Ken and his college sweetheart Sharon have raised three children, all now in their twenties.
A former teacher and homeschool mom whose three children are grown and out of the house, Sharon now considers her vocation as “being available.” She likes to be able to help out as needs arise among friends and the church community. Sharon also enjoys reading, book discussions, knitting, tutoring with School on Wheels, and visiting her home state of Michigan. Sharon and her husband Ken consider it a blessing to be able to serve at The Dwelling Place.
John was adopted by loving parents from a local orphanage and grew up in a small farming community in central Indiana. When he was a freshman at Indiana University, John made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. He met his wife Lorna while he was living in Hawaii. They have been married for thirty-three years. John spent twenty-eight years in executive management in the aviation industry, and he has been CEO of his own consulting firm for the past six years. John enjoys travel, wellness, reading, and nature. He loves the weekly fellowship of the Dwelling Place and experiencing the rhythm of life with other believers.
Lorna was raised on a Minnesota dairy farm along with three sisters, two brothers, and a myriad of pets. She still stays in close touch with her Minnesota family and is especially close to her three nieces and nephew. Lorna was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, where she first experienced liturgy. She worked in the airline industry for twenty-two years and has been Executive Administrator for an IT consulting firm for the past ten years. Lorna loves to travel, cook, entertain, laugh, and read a good George MacDonald book. She loves kitchen duty with the Dwelling Place ladies and counts it a privilege to be able to pray with others about the many things that are going on in their lives.
