LentAmong Evangelicals, Lent is largely misunderstood. Many people perceive it only as something that is observed by the Orthodox or Catholics in the time leading up to Easter. The common misconception is that Lent is merely a season when one gives up something, like chocolate, television, or golf. But Lent is much, much more. The observance of Lent centers in the remembrance of Christ and the longing for renewal of relationship with God. It is intended to be a journey through darkness to the glorious light of Easter. It is a time when we come aside to rediscover and recover who we are because of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.
