Throughout the centuries, the heartbeat of the church has been prayer. For many of those centuries, the lives of the faithful were scheduled around set hours of prayer. In our time, many people have little or no understanding of the sacred rhythm of regular prayer.

Developing a habit of daily prayer is a primary part of establishing a healthy spirituality. Fixed times of prayer help establish a disciplined life of regular communion with God. They also remind us that everything we have, including our time, belongs to God.

The truth is that many of us have a hard time praying by ourselves, but we feel a sense of identity and community when we pray the same psalms, prayers, and confessions along with other Christians. The posts on this blog are intended to help you as you pursue a spiritual rhythm through prayer, contemplation, and meditation.
