Through the Bible with Poetry: Micah
Jon’s thoughts: I have tried to combine three things here: Micah’s call to walk humbly with God, Luke’s description of the encounter with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, and Hebrew’s description of Christ’s passion being a “joy set before him.” We too can face the joys He sets before us, as we walk humbly with our God.
Micah
Walk Humbly With Your God
What does the Lord require, O man, that’s good?
He has told you, O man, the good to do.
And what is it the Lord requires of you?
Walk humbly, be just, be kind, if you would.
Jesus walked with them to show what he could.
Of words concerning him, their knowledge grew.
Breaking bread with them before he was through,
Their eyes were open to see as they should.
O foolish people who find it so hard,
To believe what is written in the word.
For the joy set before him he knew the cross.
With God, who suffered on the wooden shard,
Despising the shame, walk humbly onward.
For the joy set ‘fore him, he knew the cross.
