Easter is a season in the life of the church that moves us toward Ascension and Pentecost. The message of Easter can’t be communicated in a day. It takes a season. So this week we want to explore a story found in John 20:1-18. Mary mistakes Jesus for the gardener (and in one sense she is correct). When her eyes are opened, she clings to Jesus. Jesus then has one of those famous enigmatic statements. He tells her, “Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.” What are we to make of this utterance? Please listen with us as we examine the spiritual discipline of “letting go” in a study called — Clinging to the Way it used to Be.
