We take some time and revisit some old thoughts on the gospel and evangelism. How do we share the good news in our culture, time, and place? When we use words to communicate the gospel, what are some of the essentials? Jesus does not present himself as a theory, a possibility, or just another truth among a series of potential truths to consider. He presents himself as the Light of the world and the mystery at the heart of human existence. Our inclusion in the life of God is not presented as a goal to achieve or attain, but it is the truth about who we are. It is the greatest of all clues to what is really happening in our lives. We must learn to see ourselves and others for who they really are — not as mere mortals going about ordinary life — but as deeply loved image-bearers who are caught up in the life of the Trinity.
