Through the Bible with Poetry: Nehemiah
Jon’s thoughts: I did not do much here, just rearranged a few verses and helped make them rhyme. To be honest I sometimes think, “What am I doing?” There is so much beautiful poetry already here that needs no help from me. However, I enjoy the engagement with the text in ways I have not taken the time to do before.
Nehemiah 9:6-31
You Alone
You are the Lord, You alone.
You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, Your home.
All things are made through You, and without You nothing that is made is made.
You are the light of men, light that shines in the darkness, You have made us Your home.
In You is life, You alone.
When I look at your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have set in place,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
The son of man that You care for him, face to face?
You have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings;
Crowned him with glory; grace upon grace.
You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
The earth, the seas, and the host of heaven worships You, face to face.
True light, which gives light to everyone, has come; We are not alone.
To all who believed in His name, did receive Him into their home,
He gave the right to become children of God.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, in our home.
Grace upon grace. We are not alone.
